Do You Coupon?

You all know I love a good bargain, thrifting, Craigslist, but do I use coupons? Yeah, not like I should. I've got some good deals using coupons ( nursery chair, light fixtures and fabrics ) and I almost never pay for shipping thanks coupon codes. When I'm hunt for a good deal as mentioned above, I'm all about coupons. In everyday life (shopping at Target, Groceries) coupons are almost non existent. I am good about using my Safeway Club card while grocery shopping to save on 'club card specials.' After talking with girlfriend about how much she's been saving on grocery bills & household items, its finally time I tackle coupons like a pro. She suggested I check out The Krazy Coupon Lady website, where I'll really learn how to get my coupon on!

It's easy for a newbie couponer (is that a word) to get overwhelmed, thankful there's a beginners tab. I learned so much about how to use coupons the right way. Normally if I have a coupon and I want to use it, the generic brand or another brand is cheaper, so my coupons go unused. I learned to use my coupon when the item goes on sale! For the most savings. The site recommends starting a binder, and saving all your coupons. I started my new coupon routine on last Sunday { we only get the Sunday paper } which is perfect because I can save the coupons & look at the sales ads to use my coupons. The binder option didn't work for me { to bulky }, instead I got a pocket folder with individual pockets to store my coupons by type. I have a pocket for; health & beauty, cleaning products, groceries, Starbucks, baby stuff and dog care. I like that I can carry my folder with me in my diaper bag, without looking Krazy :) I sat down when it was quiet on my living room floor and starting sorting and cutting out my coupons. I have a pretty good little stash so far.

Each page contains a clear pocket, perfect spot for me to store coupons. I now know to use the Carter's 20% off coupon I have when a sale is going on, lucky for me there's an outlet near my house that has sales! I'll be stocking up on my baby clothes for Avery soon. It's had for me to resist cute baby clothes, so the extra savings make me happy.

Since getting my feet wet so to speak in this coupon world, I've already been seeing savings. Yesterday I had to buy to food for Mojo, which was perfect timing his dog food regular price is $12.99, using my club card it was
$10.99. I had a coupon for $4 bucks off the same brand! I only paid $ 6.99 - its so unreal I saved $6 bucks! Just by taking a few moments out of my day to clip coupons!

Thanks to my girlfriend I also learned about a free 8x10 Canvas Special that's mention on the Krazy Coupon Lady site, all you pay is $ 14.95 for shipping and handling! The canvas is from Canvas People, I placed my order last week and its shipped and on its way to my house. We decided to order our new family blog picture. I'm so excited can't wait to see how it will look in person. Such a great deal for under $15 bucks! Click here for the link I will share our canvas when it arrives. I'm going to order another canvas from our wedding. These make great gifts.

I'm looking forward to fine tuning my coupon shopping skills and saving some money in our everyday life. I love that her site list coupons by store, I so need to use coupons when I shop in Target! I'll up date how I'm doing with coupons and will keep track of my savings for the next month and see how it all adds up.

Do you use Coupons? How often? What are some of your coupon tips? Could you be on Extreme Couponing? How do you organize your coupons? What sites do you love for coupon tips??? So many questions!!!

  1. I have been couponing! You can read more about my CVS trip at my blog:

CVS works for me for now. I have made some mistakes though, have you? It really frustrates me when I get home.

  2. I recently got into couponing but I certainly need to check out the krazy coupon ladt for some tips - I love the binder idea!

  3. I've been couponing for a long time. My mom is great with coupons and taking advantage of deals. My gripe is that most food coupons are for processed, packaged foods that we don't use. Most money I save is at Target, where you can stack coupons, and CVS, where you get dollars back and can use a coupon. My tip is to not buy things you don't need just because you have a coupon.

  4. Lisa, I just read your post so cool you got some free stuff at CVS just for using coupons. I will check out the site Coupon Mom!

  5. Teresa, thanks for the advice! On not buying things just becasue you have a coupon!

I know while I was sorting my coupons, I tossed a bunch of ones becuase my family and wouldn't need them.

  6. I started couponing last year for groceries and it has changed my life! My goal when I go to the store is to save more than I spend and so far I've been able to meet that goal most of the time. It feels so good to be able to save some on groceries. =)

  8. It's true that you can save a lot if you're willing to spend a little time with a pair of scissors. I'm not so good about this and every time I pay full retail for batteries or dishwasher soap I want to kick myself.

  9. Thanks for the tips Mrs. Delightful! I will check out the site Hip2Save

Morgan, I love your goal of saving more than you spend!

  10. I have not used coupons, I really need to start. You gave great suggestions and so did the other posts.

  11. I started using and I like her. She is local here in Sacramento and she posts some nice deals that I don't see very much at other sites.

  12. Linda, thanks for sharing another coupon site with me! Love that's a local one!! :)

  13. I have been couponing for a while now. It is actually therapeutic for me, LOL. I would suggest that you find a site that has stores that are actually in or near the town/state in which you live in. Also, check the expiration date monthly on your coupons. To ensure that you will not have your hopes up for a great deal and the coupon is actually expired (therefore you are unable to use it). Another suggestion would be to keep all of your coupons (of course until they expire) you never know when someone may be have a coupon swap party or you maybe able to exchange your coupons with someone that does not use the same products as you. One of my favorite sites is Hip2Save.

  14. Whoops! I meant

  15. I have never been able to coupon..but those are some great ones that you have. stores are changing around here, so not sure it helps much. Well...i take that back..any little bit helps.

  16. Every time I watch extrere coupling I get all excited...but I haven,t really tried it...I hate food shopping and knowing that it could be free drives me crazy...thanks for the heads up on the photo thingy...

  17. We don't have much in the way of couponing here in England. We get a lot of in store promotions, so I for example only ever buy my clothes detergent when there's an in store promo. We also have reward cards, that you can build points on, then you can redeem those points against vouchers or airmiles etc.. There's also a very amazing website called, which has advice and forums for everything from how to avoid extortionate bank charges to where to get discount codes for online purchases. I think this might be a British site only though.

LOVE, LOVE your blog all the way here in London! Inspired me to be more hands on with my home projects and encouraged me to start my own blog as a diary to document my progress!

  18. Love & Paint - Thank you so much!!! You have made my day, I'm looking forward to reading your blog, my BF is moving across the pond next year I will also left her know about your blog!

The sounds like a good site, I HATE paying bank fees, the ATM charges are silly! :)

  19. Good post. I definitely appreciate this site. Keep writing!
Also visit my web site pink bedding

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! Best, Katrina
