Chic Little House: Why I love Dressers as TV Stands

One of the best decisions I made when moving before moving back into our home was to use a vintage dresser as our TV Stand verses a traditional TV stand, like we had previously. You may remember, I found a vintage campaign dresser a few months before moving back home and then later decided to re-finish it painting it a glossy white using oil paint. Here's a current view of our living room.

They are so many reasons to love dresser used as TV stands. Vintage dressers provide a pretty sophisticated foundation for the modern TVs. I also love that they're an affordable option in living rooms and family rooms, because most 'nice looking' TV stands can be super pricey. For an affordable option, check Craigslist and visit antique and thrift stores to find a unique dresser that with a little vision can be the perfect TV stand for your home.

In most cases, vintage dressers just need a little love, either cleaned up, or painted along with new hardware [if needed] can give an old dresser an entirely new look. Another reason to love dressers used as TV stands is all the storage they can provide. In my home, I love the clean look the campaign dresser gives our living room, plus I love all the storage hidden storage it provides. We have plenty of room to keep DVDs organized and hidden away and also room to keep various paper tamed and out of site.

As for TV components, since we're a cable free household, our only device we have on our dresser is our Roku player hidden behind the plant (it still works with the remote), so everything stays nice and tidy, some people remove the upper drawers to make room for TV components. We have DVD player, that shifts from room to room as needed, currently it's in our bedroom. When its in our living room, I stack books on it to help it blend in.
