I got some bulb planting tips from Martha Stewart, instead of planting the bulbs in the same grouping of flower type. I mixed all the bulbs together.
Next I gently threw the bulbs in the dirt and planted where the landed. Its supposed to give the flowers a more natural look as they grow in. also planted a few in our front flowers beds. I picked flowers that would bloom from early Spring to late Summer. My tween helped my with planting it look about an hour and a half to plant the 260 bulbs.
I'm hoping the new bulbs that were planted look pretty and brighten up this once plain corner in our front yard were the rose bush once stood. Since its my first time planting bulbs, I'm super excited to see if the bulbs actually grow. I guess now comes the waiting period, will they grow or not?
Have you planted any bulbs this year? If so what type did you plant?

Best wishes with the flower garden. I love the shrub on the center! I was deeply sighing at the sad sight that is my flower bed... I need something I cannot kill off... I will be doing rose bushes for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a neat tip! I haven't ever heard of doing that before, but it is a good idea. I bet your flowers are going to look gorgeous. =)
ReplyDeleteThey'll be lovely! Learning that year-round prettiness can be difficult to achieve but I think you're on to something with the bulbs. We haven't planted any but enjoyed watching what came up this past season (first spring/summer in house). Maybe next year. ;) -Teresa
ReplyDeleteOur Corner House, its so cool to see what pretty blooms await you as the weather changes! We had a few bulbs we found while doing garden bed work a few years back, I should have transplanted them elsewhere, live and learn! :)
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog..how cute. I'm following now:-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Mrs. Pancakes!! love your name :)
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought to plant the bulbs in the manner you did but I have a feeling that it will give a really nice, natural look to your triangle. It'll be a lot of fun for you to see how it turns out next year.
