Greetings Chic Little House Followers,
My name is Summer and I am a friend of Katrina's. I have some news to share about Katrina and her family. On Saturday, July 7, 2012 Katrina's home was involved in a fire that has left her home inhabitable. Katrina and I have been friends for quite some time, I know she has mentioned that before, and to hear the pain in her voice when she called to tell me, still saddens my heart. At this time, I am hoping followers of Katrina's blog would offer support and words of encouragement to the family. There are many tough days ahead, as a good portion of Katrina's home must be rebuilt and many items are total losses due to smoke damage.
Katrina and her husband have worked so hard on making their house a home as you all know...
each step of the way, a little more love went into their home
Katrina and Hasani inspired us all with hard work and diligence to see a task completed
And while its hard to think about what they have lost, my heart rejoices in what remains..
They are all still together... safe
I am most grateful for that!
If you would be so kind, please extend your thoughts and prayers to my dear friend and her family. Post a little bit of strength, a scripture for comfort or whatever your heart leads you to say. While homes can be rebuilt, replacing family is impossible.
God truly spared a few angels to give us all more time to know and love them and to demonstrate our own kindness by helping them now that they need us.
If you have any questions, or would like to help in other ways, please contact me at my blog theshadesofsummer.blogspot.com or Brandi from Don't Distrub This Groove at bet1975.blogspot.com
I appreciate you all, and pray God's blessing upon your families as well.
Best,
Summer

I am so sorry to hear about your house! I can not image the heartache you are feeling right now! I am so glad that all are safe and thought I know you loved your house only things were lost, not lives. Since I do live so close if there is anything I could do please do not hesitate to ask! Though I have never been a victim of a house fire, my husband is a Fire Captain for Consumes and has helped others get back on their feet. I hope you have a speedy recovery and I look forward to seeing your posts as you rebuild!

My heart is breaking for them! How sad it must be to see your lovely home, that you have worked hard at and grown a family in to be damaged like that. I am so thankful to hear they are all well and safe though. My thoughts are with them at this tough time!
ReplyDeleteI just recently caught on to your blog - you have a real talent in writing and your projects are really inspiring! Although it wasn't as devastating as a fire, about 2/3 of our house flooded almost 2 years ago. It was so hard, so I think I have some understanding of what you're facing.
ReplyDeleteFirst take care of yourselves - its ok to be angry and upset - I know I cried a lot and I'm normally not a crier. Lean on your spouse, friends, and family for support and laughs. Although it doesn't look good now - things will turn around and you will survive and thrive.
Thoughts and prayers for Katrina and Hasani and family. So thankful that they are safe. God is good all the time. We just have to lean on Him.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from all around the blogosphere. Thanks, Summer, for let us know.
Katrina, I stumbled across your blog for the first time today and was shocked to read about the fire. I'm SO very sorry for your loss--and SO thankful that you and your sweet family are safe! Imagine my surprise when I started reading your older posts and saw familiar sights...West Elm, Hobby Lobby, the Sacramento Capitol! From your posts, I think we must live close by each other--I'm literally 5 mins from the Galleria. I know we don't "know" each other, but if I can be of any help during this time, PLEASE let me know! Really! Even if you'd like to meet somewhere for coffee and a chat, I'd love to. (I promise, I'm not a stalker--I have good references and you can ck me out! LOL!)
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for the last year and was so sorry to hear this terrible news. Sending you prayers and best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your home. I will pray for your family. I am very glad that you are all safe and sound.
