Bedside Lamps or Swing Arm?

Monday, September 22, 2014

I love getting comments from all of your about how we live in our home and ideas on switching things up etc. I recently received a comment, suggesting I consider switching out my bedside table lamps in favor of swing-arm lamps to give us more room on our nightstands + work well with the visual height of our headboard. I loved the suggestion and loved the look of swing arm lamps, but can't part with my beloved Ralph Lauren lamps. I bought for only $8.00, plus I'm a sucker for over-sized lamps. Click here for a  quick reminder of how my nightstands and lamps look in my bedroom. Right now, their too near and dear to my heart to part with, but you never know what the future holds!

The question got me thinking of bedrooms with lamps and bedrooms with swing arm lamps, lets take a look at some pretty inspiring bedrooms shall we of bedrooms with both styles. First up bedside lamps on nightstands in all shapes / sizes / styles.

  1. I love swing arm lamps like a play sister, but I wouldn't get rid of your Ralph Lauren lamps. They are divine and I like the oversized look on those equally divine nightstands. I've seen photos of bedrooms that have both - not sure if that wouldn't be too much for you. But I do think swing arm lamps somewhere in a room is a treat.

  2. I have swing arms because they look SO good in pics. In reality, they are just hanging there...waiting to SMACK YOU IN THE HEAD (unless they are the ones you can push out to the sides). :-)

    1. So true! I also love them in kids room, as a reading nighttime reading lamp. I need to add a little lamp in Avery's room and a swing arm / or clip on one may just do the trick!

  4. I love both! My only concern with the swing arms is if they're attached to the wall and I decided to change the decor or change around the room.

  5. I love them both! I just installed swing arm lamps in my daughter's room!! I decided to swing arm because her nightstands are so small that a traditional lamp would have taken up most of the space. She loves them!

  6. Navy is the best. I love that it can read like a neutral and fit really well almost anywhere.

  7. Oooh this is a tough one. I love both, but I think right now, the way things are for us im all about the swing arm or even the kind that are installed above the headboard that direct light down.. with how limited our space is and how small our nightstands are, going with a wall mounted option would definitely allow us to maximize on some limited space.
