Let's take a look at our newly built garden bed we recently built and added irrigation to.
Here's a list of what we decided to grow.
Back: Red Bell Pepper, Orange Bell Pepper, Yellow Bell Pepper, Greek Basil, Roma Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes and Beef Steak Tomatoes
Front: Jalapeno Pepper, Sweet Banana Pepper, Sweet Pickle Pepper, Sweet Basil, Rosemary and Cilantro
Its hard to believe a few short weeks ago these spot in our backyard was full of weeds, and debris and now we're this much closer to producing herbs and vegetables for our home. Look how far we've come!
This view from my kitchen window is so much better than the old one!
This area of our yard is still a work in progress, in the future we plan to add a privacy trellis to help conceal our waste containers. We also want to layer in more plants around our raised garden bed to add color and more visual interest.
I'll share updates as the months go on as our veggies start producing.
Have you planted your garden for this year? Any tips on growing lots of veggies?

The weather is now starting to get warmer in CT. I plan on planting our garden really soon. I really wanted to start in April but its been too cold... Looking forward to seeing your veggies grow. :)

DeleteHey! loved coming across your post, I'm doing the same thing right now down in Florida! I really like the trellises you put on the beds, next summer when you plant, the trellises are perfect for cucumbers and peas :-) following your blog, so I can see how your garden grows :-)

Hi Kristy good to know, this year playing it 'safe' with this crop and so looking forward to venturing out and trying more veggies next year
DeleteI can see my tomatoes getting bigger almost every day! I planted mine the last day of April, and went with tomatoes, cukes, zucchini and herbs. Next year bigger and better, there is always next year. I hope your tomatoes will be getting a bit more sun, will the shade from the fence be lessening as summer gets closer? We planted up against a fence at our old house and did OK, but tomatoes love the sun. If you plant some squash way out front, they will spread out towards the sun and have no problem producing well into October! Happy growing!

Yay for already seeing progress on your tomato crop! The spot in our yard gets full sun and then partial shade and full sun again lol ~ Hopefully this area turns out to be a good area for our tomatoes - Next year we plan on expanding and our selection so we might try squash :)
