Looking closer, I really like the pattern weave on the Elephant swatch, I think the color might be too light?
My other options is going with charcoal, which looks like more like a deep grey.
Double the fun? Or more work? lol
Here are my other two fabric swatches, I'm considering sewing some pillow covers for our living room with this fabric, so its subtle Ikat print (swatch # 2 on the right). They would cover our yellow pillows - I would use the pillow covers from time to time, when I wanted to freshen up the look of our living room. The colors and fabric type are a perfect match with our lumbar pillows. I hope you gals aren't tiring of my love from yellow!
Often when I come home from work Mojo's on our sofa on one of the pillows, and I find myself washing our pillows more often than a want. Even though he's small he still sheds some in the Summertime. I decided to make him a bed for living room that's cool enough to lay on the floor, like his bed in our bedroom. I'm thinking the Chevron print with turquoise / blue piping - for an additional fun pop of color. This picture below from Eddie Ross, sums up how I love cute dogie beds on living room floors. It just makes me smile.
What do you think of the fabric swatches for the diy headboard? Basket weave or linen, for those of you that have done nail hoards before, any tips? Thanks
Secondly - Chevron floor dogie pillow for Mojo? Or am taking on too many projects, lol

I am a sucker for Chevron, so I'd say go with that. And super cute idea with the piping! I dont think you are taking on too much. I would just do one at a time. And yes to double nail head!
ReplyDeletei really love the lighter grey one and even though it's a bit lighter, i think it will provide a good depth of color with the greys. the double nail head is definitely more fab, but also twice the work, but the work might be worth it! :) if you;re not in a rush, maybe you guys could do it over 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteOh you have great ideas here and I adore the yellow so I never tire of it! I say the charcoal and you don't need to over do it, just keep it simple!
ReplyDeleteLuvs!
Dayka - Interesting point, the lighter shade of gray does add depth.
ReplyDeleteLately I am thinking of getting yellow pillows as well... Those fabrics are fantastic and about the dog bed in the livingroom... I had exactly the same idea. I was thinking of covering her pillow with a nice fabric what matches the rest of the room.
ReplyDeleteps.: Your house looks gorgeous. If you don't mind I add you to my "I read" list.
Umbrella Island, I forgot to mention the fabric is from Fabric.com super low prices on those fabrics! Ooh i can't wait to see her new dogie bed. Thanks so much for the compliment on house! and of course I don't mind you adding my blog to your reading list....I'm glad you enjoy reading it!
ReplyDeleteAll of your projects have me atwitter! I like the charcoal textured fabric for the headboard, and I think a double row of silver nailheads would be amazing! And don't get me started on the pillow fabric for your living room... :)
ReplyDeleteI am digging the light colored basket weave! I am picturing it now with double nail heads.... wooo wee that headboard is going to be gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI lovw thw basket weave in the darker gray! I say that because the euro shams are going to be in the cross section right? which is a lighter gray. I think thats where your depth is going to come in!
ReplyDeleteOh and yes, make Mojo a cushion out of that chevron pattern!
ReplyDeleteWho could be tired of yellow, especially in those fun prints? I especially love the chevron with the turquoise piping idea!
ReplyDeletei like the charcoal with a double nailhead trim. on the doggie bed topic, Mojo will still probably lay on your pillows and not the nice bed you made him, cuz that's what dogs do, so annoying. i have an ottoman that my dog believes is her bed, i just gave in finally.
ReplyDeleteI love the charcoal - the double nailhead trim is nice! I don't have a dog but I know they do like Mom & Dad's stuff better from time to time so he may just adopt a couple pillows like Alison said!
ReplyDeleteMrs. Chic I used a decorative nail spacer to make everything a little straighter since its a little difficult to make them look perfect and also a tack remover helps pull out the nails easier in case you mess up. As far as a dog bed you might want to make a few of them, they get dirty so quick from them going outside that's why I made mine dark blue so you cant see it!
ReplyDeleteI will always love any yellow fabric that you come up with! For the headboard, I'm loving that dark basket weave. I can't wait to see these projects come together :).
ReplyDeleteBri - thanks for the tip about using a nail spacer, I'll for sure get one.
ReplyDeleteHmm - The there's a mix of yeses for Charcoal & Elephant...hmm. I'll have to order the Charcoal swatch now :)
I'm glad you all aren't tiring of my yellow :)
I love the grey headboard, and always am a sucker for nailhead trim. Make sure to check out the nailhead trim kits, so you don't have to position every single individual nail. I'm contemplating changing up our nailhead headboard that I made last year soon too. I still love it the way it is though- check out the post here:

Good Luck!
Honestly, fabric swatches give me panic attacks and make me break out in hives. I can choose home items like nobody's business. Send me to Home Depot with $200 and a mission and I'll come home with every bathroom fixture needed. But, fabric... yikes! But I do really love the texture of the lighter gray!
ReplyDeleteI know. That doesn't help. Sorry!
Mrs Chic...I love your choices...:) I think the charcoal would be gorgeous...In love with the double nail head...So awesome!
ReplyDeleteI just came across your blog and I am liking what I am seeing.
ReplyDeleteMr. GWH
Your headboard is going to look great. I love the texture of the light gray just make sure there's some contrast between the headboard and the wall so it pops. Here are my tips for nail heads.....1. round ones are easier than square ones. 2. The larger the diameter the less you will need. 3. Practice you spacing on a scrap, measure and mark each one, don't eyeball it 4. use a teflon hammer so it won't damage them. Good luck, I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteTammy, thank you so much for all your tips! I'm so looking forward to starting this project, just got to pick the fabric, sigh....
