It's been a crazy busy week at our home! On Tuesday Hasani and I met with the electricians to go over all the electrical for our home, I'm happy to say our home will be well lit and have plenty of wall plugs thanks to 'California Code.' I'm in the process of picking at all of our lighting fixtures (except for our recessed lighting) so far I've put to ideas for our living room and dining room, in an effort not to stick up boob lights all over my house.
In addition to our electrical work, our new roof & seamless gutters were installed. I have to admit I'm pretty much in love with our new gutters they look so sleek all around our entire roof. I'm also digging our 'designer roof' that's the style they call our shingles, love that I can say our roof is designer, lol. I'll share more details on our new roof next week.
We love stooping by our home during the week and seeings the projects, its excited knowing we'll be back in our home in a few months. That's when the far part for me at least begins, decorating :) Next week, I'll share the details on our siding & roofing choices.

It's coming along nicely. I know you all are excited.
ReplyDeleteI never comment because I've been reading through a reader on my iphone. FINALLY have a minute to myself on the computer! :) I keep meaning to tell you how amazing I think you all are. The images that you shared earlier of your home being gutted after the fire are just heartbreaking -- especially since you had made your home YOURS with so many wonderful DIY touches. I don't know how you have had the emotional strength to make it through all of this.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all of the changes you're making -- especially in the master bedroom!! Your re-done home is going to be AMAZING and all of your attention to detail is really going to be worth it. Thanks for taking us all along on your journey! I am SO excited to see the "finished" product (are our homes ever really "finished"?). Keep working hard, things are coming along so nicely!!!
Jen, thank you so much for your sweet words, they mean so much to my family and I! Though all this I've learned to take it one day at a time and count my blessings daily. Just can't wait to be home and fill it with love laughter and a little pretty :)
DeleteYeah, the ‘designer roof’ name is too cool for shingles. :D Do you know the reason behind it? Anyway, when do you think you will be able to move in? With the roof, gutter and siding already in progress, it might be pretty near. Good luck, Kat! :) -->Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteGood to know that you are paying attention to details on your new house. Hope you’ll be able to move in already. Having a sturdy roof will pay off in the long run because it will protect you from harsh weather. Just make sure to spend enough time on its maintenance to avoid problems such as leaks and damages. Doing this will also prolong your roof’s lifespan.

A friend told me that it seems counterintuitive to worry about gutter leaking. After all, draining water is what they do. But I told him that gutters do so in a specific way. It drains water through the downspouts and not through the walls of your home. I’m glad you chose a seamless gutter because it requires less maintenance compared to a seamed gutter. Will come back for more of your blogs! =)***Soo Eaton***
