I moved the standing planters that we next to the front to the other side of the our porch. Even though I liked the planters there, they blocked the entrance/exit to our small porch. I also moved the white terra cotta pot from the inside the flower bed, next to our front door. I also added another terra cotta paint (spray painted it glossy red) to our front entrance.
This gives you an idea, of the width of our front porch. I like the new layout better. I'm still planning on painting the faux terra cotta pots (in the stands) a color, just sure what color. Or do they look better, now that they are moved? Our color palette for our house is grey, white, black and now red.....I don't mind adding a 5th color to the mix. Maybe a bright yellow, orange or limey green? Need suggestions!
Up next, I'll be making to two pillows for our chairs in the cheap, and looking for a petite indoor /outdoor rug for the porch. The rug might be on pause until we complete some other projects. What do you think of the new layout, and again any color suggestions on the faux terra cotta pots?

The layout now is better. How about a rich purple color for your pots? It would look great with the red and gray.
ReplyDeleteI love the new layout and I don't really mind the color of the pots. Like charmaine said, purple could be fun!
ReplyDeletePurple would be so daring, I think my husband would freak. We used to have a lot of purple in our apt. even a purple sofa! So, I'm not sure if purple is going to happen, but yeah never know!
ReplyDeleteLove your front porch! If you're wanting to add a brighter color somewhere, I'd vote for yellow or orange since you already have a lot of green just from the lawn and plants.
ReplyDeleteThen again, I'm not an expert on porch decorating since ours is still bare!!
I like the new layout! And I really love the red door against your gray house. Would you consider painting the brick? I think it would make your red door pop even more and sort of extend the face of the house. Also, I love your trellis! Maybe you could grow some vines or flowers around the columns in the front? Wouldn't that be lovely? Oh, and in terms of the pots, my vote is for yellow.
ReplyDeleteHugely improved! Looking good!

I love the new layout! Have you thought about trying a rich brown? Yellow or orange would be cute too but I think the red would look great with some brown tones! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the porch and the new layout does make a difference. For painting the pots, I agree that purple would look fab....but also maybe a lime green for a punch of color. So jealous of your space!
ReplyDeleteI think the pots look fine the way they are but I vote for yellow if you want to paint them...everything is looking great! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for everyone suggesstions, I'm torn between yellow and lime! Then again orange sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteCute little makeover, your porch looks great! We have a long narrow porch too. One thing I love about your living room is the pop of yellow. I think it would look great on the porch too.
ReplyDeleteLove the porch! I vote for yellow. I love that your dog's name is Mojo!!
ReplyDeleteOur porch is almost done! Thanks for your suggestions :)
ReplyDeleteLauren - our son name our doggie! lol
Your porch make-over is looking really nice! I love the new door color. A mustard yellow that matches the outline of this blog might be a nice color for your pots too. (Although, it looks like you're well on your way to having them painted already...)
ReplyDeleteAngela, good thinking on the yellow mustard color! I like :)
