I know its hard to tell { from the picture above }, but we just placed our patio set on the front porch and called it good. After we painted our house gray and added shutters, a new light fixture, new house numbers and redid our flower bed things started looking up.
To me our front porch still looks boring and not that inviting. I think one major change we need to do our front porch is add some pops color that will look nice against the grey. I've been thinking about painting our front door for quite sometime. Mr CLH and I butted heads over our front door color - he wanted black and I wanted a cranberry red. I love red front doors, I know they are the norm in some areas, but I only counted one on our street so I thinking we are going to go red.
I also want to add some either cushions to our bistro set or add pillows to create warmth. I was also thinking spay painting our plastic plant containers on of porch to add more color. Right now the containers 'natrual Terra Cotta color' just blend in with our brick exterior.
Here are some pretty front porches that are giving me serious inspiration for small porches!
Isn't this the perfect sunny spot for morning coffee, I like the cushions and bright potted plants that surround the front porch.

Now that its getting warm outside, I'm really looking forward to added extra oomph to the front of the house. Our project list keeps getting longer and longer, looking forward to the time change when our days get longer too. Have you done a porch re-do? I'd love to see and hear all about it.

I have the same outdoor set! Did you know that costco has a matching bench for it also? Your porch does not look boring at all to me! You guys brought it to life!
ReplyDeleteDanielle, thats cool we have the same set! I'm pretty sure Micah (from Yellow Front Door) has the same set too! I didn't know Costco has a bench for it! Wow I'm checking that out tonight, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a front porch! You have done such a great job already... a red door would be fab (so would yellow... haha!).
ReplyDeleteMicah - I HEART your yellow front do so much! I wish it could work on our house, I LOVE the color yellow
ReplyDeleteI think it looks lovely and inviting as is, but if you and your hubby are taking votes on color my vote is cranberry!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely get some color in your pots - the hanging ones too (the terra cotta ones blend into the bricks). A nice potted flower on the table that coordinates with chair cushions would do a lot. And how about bright throw rug under the set?
ReplyDeleteYou have such a darling porch! I like all of your pending ideas (I also vote for the cranberry red door...or yellow ^_^).
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty...you are doing it up girl.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the photo with the green wood flooring and yellow dining set. Very cute and summery. We're re-doing our front porch too after we finish up our home office make-over. It'll be hard work, but at least we get to be outside! :)
ReplyDeleteTeri, I think a throw rug would look great in on our porch, thanks
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty. The paint job alone has made a HUGE difference.
ReplyDeletei think spraying the planters would give a great pop of color. in addition to the cushions, maybe you might be able to find a small, inexpensive outdoor rug to put underneath your set. combined with your newly painted door, you'd be a burst of sunshine!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what color you decide to go with for the door . . .
I think your porch looks darling already, especially compared to what it looked like before. I want to paint our front door too and work on dressing up our front porch this spring too!! I'll be anxious to see what you do with yours. I have no doubt it will look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so disagree! It's really, really cute and I'm very jealous! I agree with Danielle that you brought it to life, but I love all of your ideas too.
ReplyDeleteThe pillows, swing and definitely the red door! I can't wait to see if you got the swing from Costco!
